About Our Family

El Paso, Texas, United States
We are James, Lisa, Patrick, Christian, Carson, and Ella Payne a military family serving our country via service in the U.S. Army. Jim and I have been married for 18 years and have 3 wonderful home grown sons -Patrick, Christian and Carson. We recently adopted our beautiful daughter Ella Grace Ana from Donets'k, Ukraine in September. Jim and I began our Army life together at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas and every assignment thus far has extended unique opportunities and challenges for our family to grow and learn; to become a stronger, committed, and a prepared Army family. Having recently lived abroad for six amazing years, we cannot express how thankful we are for the opportunity to have represented our great country and to discover the cultures and customs of other countries; to become close to the people and learn from them; to open our hearts and minds to the unfamiliar languages and way of life in other countries. Having now moved back to the United States, we are looking forward to discovering what new adventures await our family. Rest assured, wherever the Army sends us we will continue to serve you and our country proudly. Army life, we wouldn’t trade it!

Pappa and Me!

Mama and Me!

Learning to color with chalk

I'm listening and learning...
...I can say Patrick
...I can say Christian
...I can say Carson
...I can say please
...I can say thank-you
...I can count to 3
...I can say I love you
...I can say more please
We visited Ella in the afternoon and she squealed with delight when we came through the door. We took her outside to play and she ate the banana and drank the apple juice we brought for her.
Before we leave we tell her we will be leaving soon but we will see her tomorrow. The first day, she did great..she went back to her groupa with no issues. Today, she cried BIG tears.
Yes, I cried. Come on you know I am emotional.

She's pretty. Grandma thinks she's beautiful. Can't wait for her to come home.

I want you to know that pictures of your daughter's cherub face have brought great hope and excitement and focus back to my thoughts about this entire process!! It's hard to explain, but she has blessed someone already. :) :)

Wow, look at the picture of mommy and Ella. Now look at the eyes! You two look SO much alike, as if she is related to you! Amazing.... God works wonders.

KEEP THE ENTRIES COMING...it is so much fun to read your experience.

It is amazing how things work out. She does look like you guys. It is meant to be. I can only imagine the dreams a child without parents have and she got you guys, what a lucky girl. I know you will give her the love and attention that she wants and needs. I hope to see you guys before we leave Texas this winter. Love,
Petra

James and Lisa: Praise the Lord! He answered your prayers far and beyond you could imagine, what a beautiful girl! I wish i could be there when you bring her home. I'll just have to rely on pictures! God bless and I'm still praying that all the rest of the processes will go smoothly and quickly, far and beyond what you could expect. Love you guys.

This is our "spot" we began at the beginning of our journey in May 2007, to adopt a child from Ukraine. In August 2008, we traveled to Ukraine to bring our daughter/sister Ella Grace Ana home; and on September 12, 2008 we did just that.

While our journey to bring her home is complete, our journey together is just beginning. We will continue to keep our spot here, posting as frequently as we can; and keeping you updated on our next journey in life...maybe a second adoption is in our future.

Please join us by following us by clicking on the "Follow" link to the left and posting your notes at the bottom of any post we have made.
